the food and drink only takes place
in the first empty space, other empty spaces
remain empty and the SF table is full.

Sometimes 'surfaces' can think they have something on them when they don't (for instance if an item expired and didn't clean up properly) If you take off all items from the table then click on table and select the Reset button and that should fix it for you.
